What a traditional sauna is
A traditional sauna is a hot wood-lined room heated by a stove, often with rocks you can ladle water onto for a burst of steam (the Finns call it loyly). The air is hot and fairly dry. Public saunas in the US range from wood-fired cabins by a lake to social sauna clubs in a city storefront.

What to bring
- A towel to sit on, plus one to dry off
- A swimsuit if the venue is co-ed (check first)
- A water bottle
- Flip-flops for wet floors
- A change of clothes
Etiquette
- Shower before your first round.
- Sit on a towel so sweat stays off the wood.
- Ask the room before adding water to the stones.
- Keep voices low and phones out of the hot room.
- Cool down between rounds with a shower, a plunge or fresh air, then rest.

Where this comes from
Source: the venue's Google Maps listing (category "Gym"), checked November 2, 2026, and the venue's own website. We list it as a traditional sauna because of its Google listing and website. Ratings are Google's, shown as a count only; we do not copy reviews. Prices and rules are quoted from the venue's own site with the date we read them; they change, so confirm before you go.
