What a Korean spa is

A Korean spa (jjimjilbang) is a large bathhouse with gender-separated wet areas (hot and cold pools, showers, steam and dry saunas) and a shared, clothed area of heated rooms lined with clay, salt, jade or charcoal. Entry is usually a day pass, and many have a restaurant, sleeping areas and body scrubs.

Typical temperatures, from cold plunge to Finnish sauna. Each venue sets its own; check the numbers posted on site.

What to bring

  • Nothing essential: most hand out towels and a uniform
  • Cash or card for scrubs and food
  • A hair tie and toiletries if you are particular about them
  • Proof of age if you look young (some have age rules)

Etiquette

  • The wet areas are usually nude and separated by gender; follow the posted rules.
  • Shower thoroughly before getting into any pool.
  • Wear the spa uniform in the shared heated rooms.
  • Keep phones out of the locker and bath areas.
  • Tie long hair up and keep it out of the water.

Where this comes from

Source: the venue's Google Maps listing (category "Spa"), checked November 2, 2026, and the venue's own website. We list it as a Korean spa because of its Google listing and website. Ratings are Google's, shown as a count only; we do not copy reviews. Prices and rules are quoted from the venue's own site with the date we read them; they change, so confirm before you go.
